Honestly I feel for the guy, too – I don’t know why he’d sully a great career by hanging on so long and I don’t know why a contender like Seibu would sign him (and actually use him). When he signed with Seibu I though it would be mostly a symbolic gesture and he would retire soon after…

That’s a view of Kudoh I’d seen all too often while he was at Yokohama. I feel for the guy. And lament the fact that none of the younger arms tend to look any different.

I was at this game. Frustrating it was. The game lasted for 4 hours or so. It started out good but….our bull pen was a disaster. It sure is hot and muggy in Tokyo in August but Marine Stadium being so close to the sea, you get a cool sea breeze making this stadium less stuffy than other stadiums in the greater Tokyo area. I was sitting right behind home plate. I never tend to sit there but found myself surrounded by MLB scouts. There was a scout from Texas and Philadelphia. They were looking at Mahara. I think.

Hi Lenore, Thanks for writing, and for reading! Of course I really like watching your son pitch, and I know he is getting more and more popular around the stadium. You see many Japanese fans wearing his jersey now! You must be really proud of his success here.

I’m looking forward to his next start (I think on Tuesday?) – I’m sure he’ll get us back on the right track. I haven’t had a chance to talk to Bill yet this season (though I did say hello at the game at Seibu Dome last week) – maybe we’ll get a chance to chat before the season is up.

I hope you get the chance come see a game in person soon! If you do come over I’d love to say hello.

Cool, I’ll be around on Friday- certainly you have less to worry about when Murphy starts in his current condition, but if it’s Naruse, this may be a good test for your hat or Paul the Octopus or whatever.

I’m 19-8-2 at home this year but have only seen one road win this year (at Jingu). The hat seems to be more of a problem on the road – I’m wearing it tonight to Seibu Dome but Murphy is pitching, so we’ll see if the hat or the awesome Murphy win out!

I will be at the stadium (with the hat!) all weekend this weekend. If you’re 10-1 you need to come, too!
